Access points

We had two Sophos access points which kept saying inactive and no matter what we did couldn't get them active, so we deleted them from XGS and factory reset the two access points (held reset for 30 seconds) but now they're not appearing in the XGS at all under pending.

Is there some stale record I need to delete from the CLI or something to make the Sophos XGS pick up the factory reset APs ?

  • Hello Stuart,

I don't know about the CLI or some hidden records, but could help you with troubleshooting from the network side.

Do you have a DHCP server in that network segment in place?

Do you see the two devices there? Did they get an IP address?

If not, then try looking into the switch and the dynamic MAC address table there. Do you see the MAC addresses of the access points?

  • This pointed me to the problem - thanks. DHCP service was stuck in stopped state on the XGS - once started all good. Should have really checked the basics first. Appreciate the response.
