new AP not longer manageable by XG??

Hej all,

We manage around 80 XGs at the same number of locations with around 250 AccessPoints (APX120).
With our last order, we realized that the APX120s are no longer available. Now we have received two AP6-420s and have to learn that they are not bound directly to the XG as before, but have to be administered via Sophos Central. In order to use them for a WLAN behind an XG, we have to fiddle around with vLANs - very inconvenient for our use. The fact that the AP6s can function independently is nice, but absolutely irrelevant for us.

Is this type of administration set from now on? Or did we buy the wrong APs?

Regards,

Boris

  • All AP6 Access Points are only managed with Central Wireless.

In Central Wireless you could use VLAN for bigger setups, which essentially do the same job as Separate Zone (creating an Interface) or you could use the Guest Network feature of Central Wireless, which use a Firewall on the AP6 itself to block all traffic going to internal traffic.
