Ping APX120 by hostname instead IP

Hello,

my APX access points are configured as DHCP.

I want to integrate them in our monitoring solution.

I look in windows Server DHCP and saw a name : APX120-P3200xxxxx.mydomain.com but the Ping command didn't find the host.

Is there something to do ?

    The machine from which you are pinging needs to be able to lookup the name via DNS. (Or to have the IP in a hosts file locally, but that's probably not a good idea.) So your DHCP server needs to inject the IP addresses and names into DNS (or the Windows equivalent).

    Does your DHCP server reserve addresses for your APs? If so, you can depend on the IP address and just go with that. Doesn't make sense to not reserve the address, or at least I can't see a reason for having your AP's grab random addresses.
