AP did not connect to cloud within the timeout

Hello.

I bought an APX 740 off of eBay for home usage since all of my AP50s were marked as unsupported.

I am running into an issue when I try to register the device on Sophos Central, since I can no longer simply add the device and manage it through my XG Firewall.

I am getting the error: AP did not connect to cloud within the timeout

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have tried resetting the device using the hardware button. I also see the device in my XG firewall and it was assigned an IP address through DHCP.

Hoping I don't have a $400 brick due to all the hoops that need to be jumped through these days.

  • Have you turned off Wireless Security (or whatever it's called) on the Firewall? Otherwise, I'm pretty sure that the firewall intercepts the traffic, so it never gets to Sophos Central. This isn't an issue if you've never managed APs on your firewall, but is if you're converting from firewall to Sophos Central. (Which I did.)
