Setting up my domain on NAS behind Sophos XG

Hello

I have my own domain, let's call it www.mydomain.com, I would like the user who enters in a browser ending up on my private NAS which is behind my newly setup Sophos XG. I know that I have to edit the DNS at the domain registrar to my private IP address. Here is where my questions start.

Unsing Sophos UTM I had to give is a fully qualified domain name. I used to call it "mydomain.com", I then entered a physical and a virtual webserver in UTM, this worked fine.

- In Sophos XG I haven't found the setting where I have to enter the name, can you tell me where it is?

- Am I supposed to call my firewall for example utm.mydomain.com or can I just use mydomain.com?

- Where do I have to set up the www? So that all www.mydomain.com end at the NAS?

- At the registrat of my domain, do I enter www.mydomain.com or utm.mydomain.com?

Thank you

  • Thank you very much for the article, will try it.

How about if I want the web server to secure with a certificate. Do I then have to use a non https template?

Would this require a certificate on the web server or the sophos xg or both?

    Thanks
