Using WAN Alias IP for specific hosts in LAN - getting confused.

Hi,

I, like many of you I am sure, have a range of public IP addresses set up on my wan port.

Routing from outside in is fine with NAT, I have servers running fine on them.

What I am having trouble with though is how to configure making a internal server, use one of the external IP numbers.

I thought I might have needed the patch from Sophos which is installed, but I just cant get my head round how to set it up.

Could someone assist with the process, I am only getting more and more confused looking at other posts.

Thanks,

Richard.

  • Richard,

once you have installed the Sophos patch and created the Alias from System > Network > Interface, create the additional NAT from Objects > Policies > Network Address Translation and add the Alias created before.

Now on a Policy Rule, under Routing area, change the Rewrite Source address "Use outbound Address" from MASQ to the NAT created before.

  • Could you explain how to set up the Business Application Rule for this as well?

This worked pretty good before I upgraded to Sophos SF-OS from Cyberoam 10.6.3.
