Firewall disconnects from network.

Hi everyone,

I just finished installing XG in Hyper-V on a Poweredge 220. I've been running into an issue that only occurs when I am browsing the admin interface. The local IP of the VM is 192.168.1.1 and the local IP of the machine it is running on is 192.168.1.3. XG acts as a DHCP service for all the devices on my network.

When casually browsing the admin interface (192.168.1.1:4444), looking at stats, checking the configuration (but not making any changes), the server randomly becomes completely inaccessible. Can't ping it from other devices, can't access the internet from other devices, and I can't ping other devices from within the server. I can browse the admin interface directly from the server, but any devices on the network cannot reach it.

I've figured out that the only way (that I know of) to recover from this issue is to go into windows and disable the LAN NIC (not the vEthernet virtual adapter that was created for hyper-v), and then re-enable it. Once I do that everything goes back to normal.

Has anybody seen something like this or has any ideas?

Thanks,

Christopher

  • Just another update for those that may run into this issue in the future.

Under the Network Adapter's "Hardware Acceleration" settings for the VM in Hyper-V, there is an option for "Enable virtual machine queue." I've just disabled this so hopefully that does the trick.
