Use Service Group in Business Application Rule

Is it possible to use services or service groups in Business Application Rules?  If not, where are they used.  This is a really great feature of UTM so you can use the same services in multiple rules and change them if needed.

  • I came here looking for an answer to this exact question. It would be great to be able to select from the Service and Service Groups when configuring Business Rules.
  • Just bumping this to the top to see if Sophos Staff can give an update.  This is absolutely critical to have this function.  As it stands right now, you have to create a bunch of rules for 1 server.  For example, i just got done setting one up for a customer and had to have 4 different rules for ONE server. (TCP Port List - UDP Port List - TCP Range - UDP Range) and unfortunately I had to do a couple times for other servers.  So in short, I ended up with around 30 rules when it should have been closer to 20 or lower.  At a minimum even if you had to type them out manually, you should be able to do TCP and UDP within the same rule as well as lists.  But Service Objects and Groups would be MUCH better.

I have my fingers crossed that Service Objects/Service Groups will be part of a Business Application Rule in MR2, just because I'm hoping thats close on the horizon!  Please let us know if there are any timelines on this.

    Thank You
