Firewall Activation

Hi, I have tried to access 127.16.16.16 for the console but on the activate page it wont go to activate because the internet connection cant pass through our kerio control with the 127. address. I first ipconfig > release > renew till I get the dhcp from ESXi then I get something like 127.16.16.20. This gets into the console but cant get through to internet.

Please advice.

  • please try https://172.16.16.16:4444/ if you are getting a 127 address then you have corrupt installation and need to start all over with a fresh download of the iso.

You can't actually do that you must use the port 2 as the internet connection which you configure in the cli.

  • Sorry for my mistake, I meant the 172 not 127. Could you elaborate on the port 2 thing, and my setup is on vsphere client fyi. Thanks.
  • Port 1 is setup to provide a dhcp adress for your setup pc connection only.
Port 2 is where you connect to the internet eg your local existing network. You can setup port 2 for dhcp or static. If you use static make sure you add a dns value.

  • Once I got the 172.something ip address, the internet connection seems to go off with the yellow exclamation mark on notifiy area. When the management pc is not getting the 172.16 ip range from the esxi , the browser cant get into the console login page on https://172.16.16.16:4444 with username, password : admin, admin. The basic setup on the activation screen would take me to the port B of the device that you're talking about but it is useless because the internet connection has gone off by then.

  • Can we change this 172 ip altogether into something lets say in the 192.168 range?
  • No, not until you have synchronised the license. To change the internal network IP address you need to be able to login from the external interface and you can't do that until you have synchronised the licence.
