Home license on XGS hardware - did anyone get this running?

I haven't tried myself so far, but all posts i could find, ended up in failure as well. Seems like serial number is embedded into mainboard on xgs appliances, so you cannot install software version by replacing or wiping disk....

If nothing works you could always install a hypervisor onto the box (like proxmox) and from there install the software version on a vm in the hypervisor. It is not the same but it comes close and it has a good chance to work.

Thanks for the suggestion! I may try that when my trial licenses expire - which is in a couple pf weeks.

I doubt a hyper visor will work because the NUC is in the processing path.

Hi again, Ian, and thanks for your concern. 
So most probably no luck tricking the appliance with a virtualization layer either.

It seems the XGS series is not meant for home users at the moment. 

Maybe in the future a home license build will run on the XGS hardware. Until then i still own a pretty good base firewall, which meets most of my needs and is definitely more advanced than the builtin firewall on my router.

As there is no Hardware-image for home license, it will not be aware of NPU. So Software version will only use CPU without any offloading on XGS hardware.

What i was looking for is the data flow diagram and haven’t found it yet.

Thank you. The first link appears to be the simpler flow path. The diagram does appear to show all traffic passing through the NPU, either in fast pasta or slow path.
