Sophos Firewall Interface Not Connecting with Correct Subnet

Dear All,

I have observed a strange behaviour from Sophos XGS3100 firewall.

My LAN network is 172.20.52.0/23 network. When I connect the Sophos firewall to my LAN, the Firewall gets an IP 172.20.52.145/23. After that I cannot ping or access the interface via HTTPS!

Strangely, when I change the interface IP to static and use /24 network, I am able to access the interface and ping the firewall.

I've checked from the network level and found no issues from the core layer with subnetting. Also, other devices connecting to LAN has no issues.

Any comments on this please.

  • Are you sure, you didn't have overlapping subnets at the firewall?

A list (or screenshot) of used IP's/masks would be helpful.
