XG 230 to XGS 2300 migration

Hi,

We are upgrading from an XG 230 to an XGS 2300 and just want to check a couple of things.

We will be exporting the configuration from the XG 230 and import into the XGS 2300, will aim to have both on the same firmware version when doing this.

We have a couple of site to site IPSEC tunnel and users use Sophos Connect to connect using SSL VPN, but these should still work as we are doing an confiuration import.

Currently the XG 230 is registered in Sophos Central, will this need to be removed and re-added?

Any gotchas I should be aware of?

OR Please provide some action plans So we can do this operation smoothly.

Thanks

  • Hello,

I wolud go the export/import way, as you already stated.

You have a different hardware layout, so when exporting, leave out everything hardware-related. Parameters like bridgepair, interface, LAG and so on won't help you at the new system. You certainly cannot use the registered system object in Sophos Central for the new machine, since this is using the serial of the hardware to register a new object.

You have to register the new system in Sophos Central as you would do with every new fw system.
