Can't get ESO updater to work as exception, any ideas?

I play a game called elder scrolls online. Everything works other than the updater will fail to update with error code 102. This usually is a server side error however I know it's my XG becasue I can use a different router (Netgear) and it will work. I had to do this for a CompTIA exam I took online to bypass the restrictions of XG that I couldn't figure out.

I added a FDQN exclusion of *.bethesda.net and *.zenimax.com. Neither changes the outcome with an allow rule to internal.

  • What the logviewer says?

For wildcard FQDN, the host should use the firewall as DNS - server.

Do you use webfilter, SSL, application-filter, Proxy, ...?

Can you show us a screenshot from your exception?

Some more details would be helpful.

I'll try to post the malware denial without getting flagged

  • Hi,

that will not work very well because you have the source and destination networks in the same firewall rule. You do not need the destination network in the source network. I suspect you will need an exception to bypass the scanning of the incoming traffic.

  • Please post the bottom part of the firewall rule. Did you create a web exception?
