QUESTION - "Application Objects" where are they used?

Hi folks,

I have created an application object so I can apply specific QOS settings without applying to all the VoIP category.

I am unable to locate a tab which allows me to select the application object I created.

So the question is where are Admin created "Application Objects" used?

Ian

  • Thank you, I wondered how that drop list was populated? Not very intuitive, what is wrong with the existing application objects that are used in the firewall rule that points at the SD-WAN rule?

I believe It's a limitation on XG, you can't use the existing applications filter that are used in the Firewall Rules since you need a default action of Allow/Deny for it, compared to the ones used in SD-WAN Routing for... Routing.

So pretty much if your enabling a application on your network and you need to route it somewhere else, you will need to do twice the work, first create the Application Filter to Allow it, then create the list of applications AGAIN as application objects for SD-WAN routing.

Things would be so much better if Sophos XG UI made sense, or the creation of applications based rules followed the competition.
