FTP server with public IP

A good day to you.

I am facing a challenge with accessing my ftp server.I recently started using an XG firewall and i placed it at the gatewall.

Previously i was given a public ip by my isp for the server ,but now with the xg firewall i am failing to access it from out side using the public ip.The public ip was configured directly on the server. How can i make it work with the XG firewall, i tried to a dnat after giving the server a private ip and configuring the public ip as an alias to my wan interface. I can only ping the public ip but can not get the server to authenticate any user or show the folders  published by the ftp server though it gives the login prompt only from chrome browser any other browser like explorer i used to access from says "cant reach this page" .

Please help. This server is used to upload statistical data from different field agents around the country. The tablets used have the public ip configured on them.

  • simbarashe,

please share the firewall rule created.

    Regards

  • when i was using my cisco router without the firewall

    these were the configs

    interface GigabitEthernet0/1
    description link to LAN
    ip address 192.168.4.1 255.255.255.0 secondary
    ip address 196.43.103.2** 255.255.255.248 secondary

on the server i had 196.43.103.2** and specified the secondary ip on the lan interface as the gateway.

so if i tried the ftp server i would reach it.

is there a way perhaps i can maintain the configurations on the xg firewall to make it work.like maintain the public ip on the server and specifying the gateway on the firewall so i can access the server???
