Cant configure RED 15w as wireless access point

so i have configured a RED 15w in transparent/split mode. RED is shown as up, and Connecting via eth cable works. However I cant get the AP to get detected in the Wireless protection on the UTM menu.

when i switch it to unified/standard, it appears as an AP right away and works.

i have added host 1.2.3.4 in the split network, as i had read that was for the controller. Also, can confirm the RED interface is in the global allowed list for wireless.

any ideas?
