Does Sophos generate any responses for the browser?

Hi,

Using the latest patched XG-135.  I have a few questions.

1. Who generates the response messages related to connection and ssl issues?  Does Sophos send any or all?  Or do they all come from the site with Sophos operating in what would seem to be a pass-thru mode?

2. Any exceptions where Sophos would get involved by responding to the browser? (lol, silly question as there are exceptions to everything...)

Please elaborate...  Any articles and/or white papers that discusses this in detail?

Thanks, Stanley

  • Additionally there are two different scenarios.

XG can actually replace the content of the website, user is visiting.

XG can redirect the user to a own website.

It depend on the request of the user.

If you use SSL inspection, most likely block pages are not a redirect, instead the block page is replaced content.

You can see this in the browser of your client.

If you visit google.com, but you block google, the client will see google.com in his browsers URL, but the content is a block page.

That is a indication for replacing content.
