Setting Up Profile for Office 365?

Hello,

I've pretty much given up on Sophos support. I've emailed them about this and they make it seem like they've never heard of office 365.

Our Company just moved to Office 365 and all I'm trying to do is create a new profile for office 365 email so I can push it out to users IOS devices so our users can have email settings pre-configured on the iphones/ipads. I do not see the options for office 365 under profiles however I would assume I can use the Exchange ActiveSync option. How do I make this work? Has anyone done this before? I would really appreciate any help.

Thank you

  • Hi Sabdul,

are you trying to use the Mobile Control EAS Proxy together with Office 365 or do you want to connect the devices directly to connect to office 365?
If you want your devices to directly connect to Office 365 you can specify the following things in your email profile assuming the email addresses in outlook 365 are the ones also in your LDAP directory:

    Accountname: your choice (%_EMAILADDRESS_%)
    Exchange ActiveSync host: outlook.office365.com
Domain: as required, leave it empty if possible
    User: %_EMAILADDRESS_%
    Email address: %_EMAILADDRESS_%
    SSL: yes

    Hope this helps.

    Best regards

  • Hi Stefan,
I tried this and I got an error still. Error was "A value referenced by a placeholder does not exist. -42 Completely failed"
  • Hi Sabdul,

the error ""A value referenced by a placeholder does not exist. -42 Completely failed" means, that one of the placeholders (%_USERNAME_% or %_EMAILADDRESS_%) cannot be replaced.

Please make sure that you have linked a user to the device in question. To link a user, edit the device in question and choose the "Assign user to device" option from the "Actions" pane.
Search for the user in question and make sure that he has configured an email address in your directory.

Once assigned, make sure to save the device and then try the distribution of the profile again.

    Best regards
    Stefan
  • Stefan,
You are the man! That was the issue all along!!!!. I add the devices into MDM myself so users are not going to self portal but when I did that, I was just filling out the information of the users but wasn't actually pulling their AD info from our domain controller. Thank you very much for your help. You have no idea how much time I've spent with Sophos support on the phone and they finally gave up and said, Office 365 is not support.
