App secretly changes browsers home page

I installed a game called Doors Room Escape yesterday (seems to be removed from play now). It changed my browsers home page from google to something that looked like google but had their adverts on it. It did this without asking permissions in any way.

Sophos Mobile Security didn't react in any way to this either, I was kind of expecting it to protect me from hijackings of this kind. Is this not something that it monitors?

Appbrain seems to still have this app, if you want to check it out.

  • Hi there,

    thanks for your feedback.

Changing the start page of the browser does not require a specific right.

Therefore, Sophos Mobile Security doesn't recognize this. This is something we simply couldn't recoginze with the mechansims implemented in the product right now.

We will keep this in mind for upcoming versions and check if there are possibilities to implement this.

    Best regards

    Stefan

  • I'm having problem to play my favorites games Canasta and Pool(Yahoo Game=Java) in my new computer and the technician from Staple told me that I need to contact  you to fix this problem.
He said Sophos program is very selective with the games permit to allow to the computer, but Canasta is my favorite and relaxing game and I need the game to be available for me to play.

I dont know anything about computers and software, Ineed help. Thankyou
