SMC as Service - Migrating from Evaluation to licensed version

Hi there,

I have just purchased the license for SMC as service and have been done the configuration.

I have about 15 Android Galaxy S III (OS: 4.2) on the evaluation version including mine.

My question is how to make those devices point and communicate to the licensed console.

So far I've done below:

I created a new account and tried to add my device to the license console.

I received a link to the Sophos Mobile Control Google Play download site.

There are two selections, OPEN and DEACTIVATE.

When I select DEACTIVATE, a message pops up saying "This app is a device administrator and must be deactivated before uninstalling"

I opened App Manager. I can't uninstall SMC because all buttons are greyed out.

Old evaluation console is not accessible any more.

Anybody knows is there is any way to migrate the devices from evaluation to licensed console?

Or I have to set the phone back to the factory reset?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

  • Hi alexstef,

if your devices are already registered on a different server, you have to uninstall the Sophos Mobile Control client and register them on the new server. A simple redirection of the clients to a new server is not possible.

To uninstall the SMC client from an Android device, please follow this procedure:

    1. Open the program list.
    2. Select the "Settings" icon:
      1. Go to the "Security" settings.
      2. Open the "Device Admin" section.
      3. Deactivate the device administrator for Sophos Mobile Control.
    3. Go back to the "Settings" menu:
      1. Select the "Application" menu.
      2. Click on "Manage Applications".
      3. Select the tab "All Applications".
      4. Choose "Sophos Mobile Control".
      5. Click "Uninstall"
      Best regards

      Stefan
