Question - Sophos Mobile Control

Hi all,

I have some questions about the Sophos Mobile Control and would be pleased if you could help me.

I looked trough feature matrix of this product and find some interesting functions/options for managing iOS and Android devices.

"Devices - Installation and configuration of applications"

Installing applications (with or without user interaction): iOS [X] | Android [X]

Uninstalling applications (with or withou user interaction): Android [X]

List of all installed applications can be displayed: iOS [X] | Android [X]

Now I have some questions, because my level of knowledge is, that every of these functions is not applicable for iOS and Android devices without "jailbreaking" iOS or "rooting" Android devices.

Maybe anyone has some ideas / answers how these can work?

Best regards

  • Hi Max09,

there is also another important difference between Google and Apple

Google does allow you to use other app stores, Apple doesn't. Downloading from a local website would be another app store.

So the answer for iOS is, that you can either download from the official app store or you must have a so called Enterprise App Store, which allows the download of self written apps. This is all protected with certificates and similar and very well protected (basically, the Apple business model more that your phone :smileyhappy:)

    Best regards
