Uninstalling the standard IOS Apps automatically after enrollment

Good day,

I enroll iOS devices like iPhones and iPads using Apple Configurator, and sometimes the enrollment is automated through Apple Business Manager along with the seller ID.

I'm interested in creating a task bundle to uninstall certain default apps that we don't require, such as Freeform and FaceTime.

Currently, this task always fails, and I suspect it's due to the fact that these apps aren't managed. Is there a way to address this issue? Can these apps be uninstalled using a task bundle or an automated process? As of now, I have to manually remove them from each device, which is quite time-consuming.

Best regards and thanks

  • Another suggestion I came upon when inquiring internally is to push out an "Install" task for the app you wish to remove. Since FaceTIme is already installed, the task will succeed, updating the system app to a "Managed" state.

An uninstall task can then be pushed out.

Let me know if this works for you.

  • In order to install IOS-Apps we need to add a licence in the Apple Business manager VPP. These Standard apps are not avialable there anyway so the installation over the MDM did not work for me. Creating a list of forbidden apps works okay for me. Thank you :-)
