Sophos Intercept X for mobile Accessibility Service turned off question about Security & Antivirus Guard and question about release notes

Hello everybody,

I am writing to you as per subject to ask you:

In the release notes page relating to Sophos inercept x for mobile for Android and written this among the know issues: "Sophos Accessibility Service turned off on some devices.
On some devices, Android turns off the Sophos Accessibility Service, which Web Filtering requires. Sophos Intercept X for Mobile detects this and asks the user to turn on the service again. "
Should this happen to avoid this, is it necessary to install the additional Security & Antivirus Guard app or not?
Furthermore, since on the play store the app is reported as having arrived at version 9.7.3495, is it possible to know in some way the release notes since on the official page it is stopped at version 9.7.3487?

    I have inquired internally to get more information on the release versions and changes that have been made. I will update you on this thread. 

    Some information I was able to find to help answer your question is present in the article linked here. 

    Looking into the details of the "Security & Antivirus Guard" application, this add-on is responsible for ensuring that the Intercept X Mobile and Sophos Mobile Control applications continue to run in the background so constant scanning can occur based on the restrictions you apply. The add-on is not specific to the Sophos Accessibility Service. 

    If you are using the "App Protection" features within Intercept X Mobile, it is recommended for you to install Security & Antivirus Guard so that the controls you apply remain enforced. If Intercept X Mobile is no longer running in the background, the App Protection features will be defeated. 

    In general, it is recommended to have the add-on installed, so that your protection apps do not go to sleep based on battery-saving settings and as a result disable the restrictions you apply.

    Got any news about the changes in the latest version of Sophos Intercept X for mobile?
    I also wanted to ask you something else: I see in the Google play store that the Security & Antivirus Guard component is not updated since 10 August 2020 and is written  "Protects the Sophos Mobile Control client 9.6 Protects Sophos Intercept X for Mobile 9.6".
    But is it fully compatible with version 9.7?

  • It looks like there are some bug fixes that are currently in the planning/release stage, I expect an update to the release notes in our documentation once these additional fixes are rolled out. I am still waiting on confirmation on this. 

    I can confirm that the Security & Antivirus Guard application is compatible with version 9.7 of SMC and Sophos Intercept X Mobile. There are some updates for the Add-On app as well, which are planned for the first week of May.
