Sophos Mobile + BYOD Policy + User Consent

We want to roll out Sophos Mobile on iOS and Android to BYOD users and company owned devices with containerised functionality on BYOD devices.

When our users install Sophos Mobile on their devices, is there any way to introduce a message and check box during installation (ideally before any software lands on the phone) so that we can broadcast a message pre-installation such as 'By installing Sophos Mobile you are consenting to xyz Ltd managing its data on your personal device" - with a checkbox to agree.

If this is possible, please could someone let us know and, if there is, please send a link the appropriate documentation?

  • For the Loss & Theft feature, Sophos Mobile Security requires the following Device Administrator permissions to allow you to lock or wipe your device remotely if it is lost or stolen. If you enroll Sophos Mobile Security with one of the Mobile Device Management platforms from Sophos (Sophos Mobile, Sophos Central, or Sophos Home), Sophos Mobile Security uses these permissions to enforce the policies defined by your company.

  • Installing stuff on company owned devices isn't an issue, it is putting Sophos Mobile on privately owned devices where we want people to opt in to a corporate policy and we have to gain consent before it's done.  Our own researches suggest that pre-enrolment texts associated with the Self Service Portal might be the way to go.  Has anybody got any experience of this?  It seems not to be working at the moment.  Or is this just us?  :-(
