Sophos Mobile Security (free) on son's android tablet

Hi

I am a happy user of Sophos UTM for my PCs. Now, I would like to use Sophos Mobile Security on my son's tablet when is off the home wifi using LTE etc.

I would like to use the multiple user feature on android with him as a "restricted users"

https://www.guidingtech.com/android-multiple-users-feature/

How do I ensure that Sophos starts up when he logs in as his user (from tablet being turned off). Will Sophos boot startup for all users on the Android? I don't mind if Sophos has same tight web filtering for both me (parent user) and him (restricted Android userid)

Is the following done within each user or just the primary (parent) user:

https://community.sophos.com/products/mobile/f/sophos-mobile-security-for-android/99035/sophos-android-access

(basically I want to do something similar to this but use Sophos not Netnanny at end!) : https://www.netnanny.com/blog/how-to-set-parental-controls-for-android/

Thanks!!

    Hi James,

    Thanks for your entry.

You bring up some good ideas. However, outside of the App Protection feature (as you noted) the features you've raised are currently not supported on the Mobile Security app.

However, what you can do is add this as a feature request. Please go to the Sophos Ideas site and enter your feature requests.

Please let us know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,

  • I don't think I requested any new features.

Just wanted to know how Sophos Mobile worked in an multi-account tablet

    Hi again James,

I apologize for any misunderstanding on my part.

The standalone Mobile Security app can generally support Android multi-user feature. However, when booting up it will go to the primary.

Presently, there are no controls or restrictions for Web Filtering, and different users. These features would have to be requested.

The only feature where there are controls restricting different users is App Protection. Where you can configure this feature to place restrictions to other users, using the device.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Regards,
