A TROJAN ON MY GMAIL

hi--i just ran Sophos Anti Virus for the first time ever on my Mac.  It found:"The virus Troj/MSIL-FMD was detected, but can only be emoved manually.  I looked up the Trojan and it says the word Windows.  But I'm on a Mac.  Windows or not, I still want it gone.  I personally don't know how to remove it manually.  I went to the Sophos site and could not at all find out how to remove it.  Then I accidentally clicked "IGNORE" the Trojan, so I don't know what I did there.  If you can tell me how to remove this Trojan I'd hugely appreciate it.  And please note I'm so new to all this stuff I had a hard time even finding this page to post this question...  Thanks in advance.

  • Hello C P,

    I'm on a Mac
the scanning engine is the same and uses the same set of identities for detection on all platforms, and you get an alert whether it's a threat for your Mac or not.
    how to remove it
depends on where it has been detected, do you know the path? As you mention GMail it might be either in the browser or Mail's cache. Deleting the mail and emptying the (mail) trash (and if applicable the browser cache) should do.
