Blocked Host

An external sender was not being able to send email because Pure Message was blocking it but we are not sure why. Ran the Filtering Report for blocked hosts and the ip address did indeed show up as being blocked. We verified that the ip address is not included in the Transport SMTP Scanning filtering lists. Where else would this be getting blocked?

We had to turn off SMTP scanning in order for mail to be delivered.

We have included the domain in the Allow specific senders.

  • Hi Blinks,

Have you checked the Puremessage block list? It must be listed....if your block list long and it's hard to figure out the IP (it might be included on a range), export the block list, then delete all entries on the block list and have the sender send a new email to make sure if it's blocked or allowed. If it's blocked you should see an entry on the smtpscanlog (c:\program files\sophos\puremessage\logs\).

Don't forget to load back the block list.

Including the domain or IP on the allowed senders list won't be effective because rules apply from top to bottom...and block come first..before filtering. Blocked connections are dropped.

    Hope this helps.
