Sophos Enterprise Console shows a very old "Last Updated" date.

We are using Endpoint Protection Advanced License for downloading latest definitions for Linux. These definitions are used by our Email Server to counter any malware in ongoing mail traffic. We can see latest ide files in \\Server-Hostname\SophosUpdate\CIDs\S000\savlinux\savi\sav .However, Enterprise Console shows a very old Last Updated Date. What may be the reason?

  • Hello Christian,

I checked SUM Trace logs however I could not find anything significant. I found this line (given below ) in logs as doubtful..

Cmd-ALL << [E4022][C:\ProgramData\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Management\4.5\Updates\Secure\SDFs\SophosMA][sec][7D48A012-0C64-4F21-BA27-A9CEDF442749][0.0.0][7D48A012-0C64-4F21-BA27-A9CEDF442749][Couldn't create directory C:/ProgramData/Sophos/Sophos Endpoint Management/4.5/Updates/Secure] SDF Deployment operation failed when decoding payload '7D48A012-0C64-4F21-BA27-A9CEDF442749'. Details: Couldn't create directory C:/ProgramData/Sophos/Sophos Endpoint Management/4.5/Updates/Secure

May this be an issue? Kindly help.

  • Hello Aravindh A,

hm, looks like this is the cause. BTW: Which SEC version is this, seems very old?

Please check (and if necessary correct) the permissions on the mentioned path (should be inherited from C:\ProgramData\Sophos\Sophos Endpoint Management\ (can't say for older versions but I'd expect Full Control for SYSTEM, Administrators, and perhaps NETWORK SERVICE, Read and Execute for Users and/or the Sophos Management user).

  • Been trying to resolve similar problem, adding FULL CONTROL permissions seems to have cured it. Thanks.

  • This helped me.

I saw these errors in Application logs :

Synchronize operation failed when synchronizing product release 'F26F7EC0-1302-4DA7-8B6B-A5383051D41A'. Details: Cannot create stream C:/ProgramData/Sophos/Update Manager/Update Manager/Warehouse/4224

Decode operation failed when decoding product release 'A845A8B5-6532-4EF1-B19E-1DB2B3CB73D1'. Details: Couldn't create directory C:/ProgramData/Sophos/Update Manager

After adding System account, all became OK.
