What is Sophos Definition of out-of-date computers?

Hi All

May I know what is Sophos definition of out-of-date computers? Can we/customer adjust for e.g. 7 days after virus definition are considered out of date?

Are we able to adjust so that our reporting will be align or define in our way of terms?

Thanks

  • Hello mike jack,

simply put: Whenever updated definitions have become available computers are considered out-of-date if they haven't applied them after a certain interval (UpToDateLatencyMins, default 60 minutes).

    adjust for e.g. 7 days
sorry, but that doesn't make much sense. Considering that updates are issued several times a day you might as well disregard the up-to-date status. What's the rationale for such a long interval?

  • Hi Christian

    Thanks for the reply.

As for the 7 days, I want to know identity which endpoints are facing connectivity/update issues.

    Appreciate your reply.

  • Hello mike jack,

admittedly a longer latency "looks better" in the mornings especially on Mondays but it's bad particularly when there are general issues. In small and simple environments it might be acceptable (but seven days is still too much IMO), with message relays or additional update locations issues will be hidden for an unreasonable period.
