Windows Security Centre: 'Sophos Anti Virus reports it is turned off'. 'Turn on now' has no effect.

Hi,

I have Sophos Endpoint Security & Control installed on my Windows 32 bit PC with Vista Ultimate OS.

On boot up Sophos reports that it is fully enabled and functoning. And entering the Sophos Home screen at any point shows that both the Configure anti-virus and HIPS & the View anti-virus & HIPS log sections appear to be functioning as expected: neither section icon is "greyed out".

However, the Malware sub-section of Windows Security Center (upon inspection, following repeated Windows Security alerts) keeps informing me that "Sophos Anti-Virus is reporting that it is turned off". The "Turn on now" button in this Malware sub-section, when clicked to activate this seemingly (at that moment) inactive Sophos program.........or to hopefully halt the flagging of false reports by Windows Security..........yields no discernable response whatsoever.

I'd like to know why Windows is false-flagging this security issue (if that is what, as I both suspect and hope, IS actually occuring here) instead of working harmoniously with the sophos software.

And if there is a genuine problem with inactivity in the Anti-Virus of Sophos I obviously need to rectify this ASAP.

Is there an on/off  switch/option within Sophos? Because I've been unable to locate it if there is.

Any info/help would be appreciated...........with one stipulation, please.

You will need to couch your answer in terms understandable to a simpleton......

Because (as far as PC knowhow goes) that's exactly what you're dealing with.

Thanks in advance for any response!
