Installation Extractor returning Code 0x00000086

I've navigated through the Forum and found many Information and Tips about how to solve Error Code 134. But even after an intense cleaning of the Filesystem and Registry i havent got the Installer working.

This whole Problem started because I wasent able to uninstall the Endpoint, so I used Microsoft Fixit to remove everything. This unclean Uninstall seems to be now the Reason it is not able to install correctly.

Here are the logs, ime running Win7 64

  • Hello Playa Mizusy,

the bootstrapper log says that the MCS install failed. If the log isn't besides the two you've uploaded it should be in \Windows\Temp\.
and BTW, Endpoint isn't the ideal forum for Central or Home installer issues ...

Its not an Issue with Central/Home, ime using Endpoint Advanced

  • Hello Playa Mizusy,

    is this Central or Home?
The error is 1923, it can't install the MCS service. What version was previously installed? Whenever I (have to) refer to the Fix-It or reply to a post recommending it I stress that it is not an uninstaller.
Are there still Sophos services in the services.msc? Perhaps even running?

P.S.: You might as well include these logs directly in the post

  • Soo, previously i had the latest Central(I suppose it is that > cloud.sophos.com) Endpoint Advanced installed, idk what exact Version, i "uninstalled" it some Days ago

There where some Services left which i removed, also i looked up the Registry entrys and removed everything mentioned in the Logs or containing the string "sophos"

  • Hello Playa,

MCS installed ok, the subsequent AutoUpdate installation didn't work as expected (is there a log?)
There's a problem with the key HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Products\{9BF40A4E-23AE-48be-9974-5A1F261DBEE8}. You say you had removed all Sophos keys and as MCS could register I assume HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Sophos\AutoUpdate\Products\ to be there. Error 2 is File (in this case Key) not found.
Maybe the AU install log has some additional information. If not, is the {9BF4...E8} subkey there?

If there's no hint what the problem could be then, after collecting evidence, I'd simply re-run the installer.
