Linux OS - pre-configuring Autoupdate

Can someone confirm or suggest the correct method to pre-configure Autoupdate for Linux?

I think it involves dropping a pre-configured savd.cfg file into [ /savlinux/sav-linux/common/etc ] then zipping or other wise packaging up the savlinux directory for deployment.

After install and update from the CID the file /opt/sophos-av/etc/savd.cfg and /opt/sophos-av/rms/updatingPolicy.xml contain the address of the Primary update location

I assume the contents of ../etc are copied and then the updatingPolicy.xml is created from that, if thats not the case a postinstall script for accomplishing the task may be the only recourse

  • Take a look at the advanced startup guide (here for SESC9), chapter 12. I'm a complete Linux idiot, used the Ubuntu Live CD and followed the instructions in the manual (something I never do :smileywink: when I think I know what I'm doing) for mkinstpkg.sh to create the mini installer and, well, that's it. Warning: the package contains the update user/password in plain text (DEF10657)!
