New Sophos Endpoint Stand alone on new client system strange "error calling" errors

Have a new laptop that we have installed the Sophos Endpoint Security and Control (Antivirus) on and we are getting strange errors.

When trying to modify the cleanup, user rights to quarantine manager, or other items inside the main Sophos screen, we are getting errors like the following:

Sophos Endpoint Security and Control has encountered an error and needs to close.

Error Information

Description: Error Calling

Error Message: The stub received bad data.

Source: CAauthorizeAppsPage::LoadKownList, Line 44

Parameter: No parameter available

We had Version 9.0 installed.  Tried to un-install completely and re-install and got same error.

Downloaded 9.5 and still getting error messages.  Also getting error messages about Web Protection along the same lines, even though it is not enabled (no checkmark in the box).

Anyone ever see errors like this with Sophos before?

It is a brand new system with XP SP3 installed.  All Windows updates have been applied.  Running latest Java.

Any assistance or insight greatly appreciated.

    When looking at WIndows Event Manager on the system in question, the Application log shows a ton of Sophos errors that state:

    Event Type: Error
    Event Source: Sophos Anti-Virus
    Event Category: None
    Event ID: 13
    Date:  8/3/2010
    Time:  9:10:14 AM
    User:  N/A
    Computer: WSOS1110
    Description:
    The requested component 'ICManager' is in a failure state. The component will not be returned.
