Enterprise Console 4 Deployment to Windows 7 PC's

Most of the PC's and laptops in our organisation are Windows XP. We have recently started to introduce Windows 7 and I have found that I am unable to deploy Sophos AV to these machines from the Enterprise console. It just quits very early with an error Code 000002e The installation did not start. The computer may have shut down, renamed ......... etc

I can manually install the Sophos on the PC directly from the server share, but I'm sure there should be some way of remotely deploying.

Thanks in advance for any help

  • Hello Gerarde,

did you search the knowledgebase? For example for windows 7 deploy or 0000002e? If it still doesn't work please tell us.

  • Hi Gerarde,

There are a few considerations to be made in deploying the Sophos client to Windows Vista and Windows 7 endpoints from the Enterprise Console - there is a list of these considerations listed in the Endpoint Security and Control 9 Advanced Startup Guide at section 11.1.3.

This refers to Windows XP and Vista in particular, but Windows 7 requires similar modifications to Vista - more specifically the Remote Registry service is by default disabled in both Windows Vista and Windows 7 - this service is required for the remote deployment of the Sophos client from the Enterprise Console, but not for a manual installation from the target computer.  Checking this list against the configuration of your target Windows 7 computer would be a good place to start.
