Installation causes Cisco VPN client and SecuRemote programs to fail??

Hello, Im currently in the process of evaluating sophos endpoint. Ive run into the problem discribed here...

http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/15520.html

Are there any plans for this to be fixed as it could be a huge problem for us if we are to choose the sophos solution?

Regards

  • Hello Dave,

didn't dig deeper than referring to the article mentioned at the bottom of 15520 and follow the instructions therein (Remove the files vsdata.dll and vsdatant.sys). We use(d) only the VPN 4.x client, not SecuRemote, though, and SCF was 1.x. Question is whether you need the VPN integrated firewall. Are these your clients connecting to your network? Some of our clients (which are in a domain) also have to connect to an external application provider and the integrated firewall - to put it euphemistically - "did not actually enhance the networking experience".

I'm a VPN ignorant but I'd say that the clients up to 4.x were not primarily designed for a configuration as described above. The issue does no longer exist with the AnyConnect client as far as I know. One could argue which firewall has to "adapt itself" - IMHO it's the limited functionality internal one, and not the other way round.
