Authorization

I have sophos anti-virus and it is blocking a file from being used and I want to allow it. I looked in the help section and it says on the configure menu click authorization and to click the adware/PUAs tab. There I am supposed to add the known adware/PUAs to the authorized adware/PUAs list. The problem is is that the known adware/PUAs list is empty. Can anyone tell me how I can get sophos to let me use my file? Sorry if this is in the wrong section or anything...

  • Hello Mitchell,

Authorization has four tabs (not counting the Websites): Adware/PUA, Buffer overflow, Suspicious files and Suspicious behavior. Depending on the detection you should find it in one of them. But - if it's classified as "malicious" it won't appear in any of them. This might be the case for generic detection in which case it might still be legitimate ("false positive").

If you could tell us what it is and as what it is detected by Sophos we could perhaps give you more specific advice.
