Sophos ES&DP Removal Utlity

Hi, Folks

Is there a link someone can provide to a removal utility, please?

I am troubleshooting a PC and need to completely remove ES&DP, test, then reinstall ES&DP. Add/Remove Programs always leaves fluff behind.

Thanks!

  • The official answer you'll get is that one does not exist for version 9 and is being developed.

  • Hello Blood,

you should call support. As StevieB wrote (but also read ) they may have something for you. Although mdp23005's information might be more recent and support refrains from handing out the script as a reaction to StevieB's "adventure".

  • Hi, Christian, thanks for your reply

I do actually have several batch files that Sophos Support have sent me over the last few years but I wondered if there was an up-to-date version available. Each one I have received has been different, one even being written by the tech support guy I was in contact with. Whilst they have all worked, I would like to ensure that the one I run is suitable for the version of the software I have installed and is designed to run with the operating system that hosts ES&DP.

I think it would be simpler for Sophos if they made one available that we could use. It would be easier for me to download the utility, run it, test the PC, then reinstall Sophos ES&DP. These guys are rushed off their feet at present and could probably use their time more efficiently dealing with real issues rather than doling out the same batch file again and again to those requesting it for minor issues that may not even be related to the functioning of ES&DP.

Also, other security vendors make these available e.g. Symantec. Whilst step-by-step instructions for the manual removal of the software may be available, and scripts may be available from other sources, I would prefer using a utility that is available on sophos.com.

Perhaps we could ask Sophos if they would consider doing this.

    Thanks again.

  • Hi there,

Thanks for your suggestion. I will look into making the removal tool for v9 available on the website. In the meantime, Support do have an updated version for v9 and will be happy to share it.

    Best regards,

    Lil
