Enterprise Console 4.5 Upgrade Failure [Topic title changed]

Hi

I tried to upgrade from 4 to 4.5 but the installer displayed an error message:

Script Execution has failed. For more detail, see c:\..\installdb.log

Which contains:

InstallDB TITAN\SOPHOS HTLINCS SOPHOS45 InstallDB.log
Started

Login failed for user 'HTLINCS\Administrator'.
Cannot open database "SOPHOS45" requested by the login. The login failed.

This is the domain administrator account. Anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this, please?

Thanks

  • Hi, Christian

    Thanks for your reply.

The reason that SQL 2008 Express is installed is because several months ago I had a database issue and my DB had to sent to Sophos and fixed. During the fixing process the DB was upgraded to V2008 which meant that I had to upgrade the SQL installation here from 2005 Express to 2008 Express.

Anyway, I have been on the phone to Sophos Support for several hours today trying to sort this out.

Something drastic occurred as the ..\enterprise console\db\ folder was empty. Also, after cleaning the server up and manually checking the registry and all folder locations, the stand-alone SQL installation was still identifying a Sophos instance. After a lot of checking we decided the best course of action was to install Sophos Enterprise Console 4.5 on a different server.

I lost my previous configuration (4 years worth), but at least now I can upgrade all the clients to 9.5 and bring them up to date.

Thanks are due to Support for their help with this.

    Cheers!
