Can't create Group!

Good morning,

I use Sophos Enterpris Console ver. 4.

in the morning i deleted all groups by mistakes.

So I need to create new Groups.

But now I can't create Groups. i need to create a new top-level group.

I do a right click on the server-name but i can't click "Greate Group".

My User is a "Remote System Administrator" and i am in a sub-estate.

Please help me !

  • Hello stauer,

you can't create a group in an "empty" sub-estate, you can only create sub-groups. To (create and) assign a group to a sub-estate you need to be in the Default sub-estate.

As I'm always trying to give "tested" answers where possible I've tried to "empty" a sub-estate and noted a behaviour which I'd call a defect: Managing a sub-estate, if you attempt to delete a group which contains only computers but no sub-groups you get a warning saying: The computers in this group will be moved to the "Unassigned" group. If you cannot see the "Unassigned" group in the "Groups" pane ... If the group also contains subgroups you only get the rather inadequate general "Confirm delete" warning which above all you can elect to suppress. As we see - quite dangerous in a sub-estate. Furthermore I would have expected that you can't delete any of the "root" groups in your active sub-estate.

Sorry to have no better answer

    Christian
