Moving the database from one server to another

We want to move our Endpoint Security Server from the old server to the new windows 2008 server. Does anyone know where I can find the documentation? I think I found it once where it talked about installing the software but not the database and then just backup the old one from the server copy it to the new one and connect it. We use Endpoint Security 4..

One last thing, Is there a newer version out there other than 4?

Thank you,

Ilene

  • Hello ilene,

last things first - the new version (4.5) is scheduled for June. You'd have to wait for it if your server is 2008 R2.

Now I thought the threads about moving a server should be easy to find in this forum ...

If you replace your server (i.e. you make all necessary backups, take the old one off the net and use the same name for the new) you just install SEC (restore HKLM\Sophos\Certification Manager\ before installing the console as articles 12366 or 28276 say) including the database and run RestoreDB.bat.

If you move your server you have to do some editing (e.g updating policies) too. Take a look here and there and just ask if something's not clear.

BTW: Do you still have only 10 clients?
