Setup switches not working for Sophos Entpoint Security and Control 9.5

Our faculty is switching from Symantec to Sophos. For a start we will do a setup with unmanaged clients. We will configure the clients to use the universitys central updateserver to get updates..

I have downloaded savw_95_sa_sfx.exe from Sophos. I have extracted the file and would like to do a silent install.

According to:

It should be possible to do something like:

setup.exe -mng no -crt R -updp http://xx.yy.zz/sophosupdate/cids/s000/savscfxp/ -s

But it is not working. Setup just starts as normal.

Also tried setup.exe -?

Again setup just starting as normal...

Is http://www.sophos.com/support/knowledgebase/article/12570.html not up-to-date? Or should I do a MSI install instead and does anyone have the MSI parameters for that?

Hello Anders,

the article you mentioned applies to setup.exe from the CID. The one in the savw_95_sa_sfx.exe package is different and is not intended to be used for building a customized installer.

Please see for example how to create a standalone installer package or search this forum.

Hi Christian,
Thank you. I wil take a look at the KB article...
I think it's weird that Sophos has not chosen to let the parameters be universal (somehow) for their setups.

Hello Anders,

the standalone is intended to be used "as is" with manual configuration. If you want your installations to be pre-configured it is assumed that you build your own installer, even for unmanaged computers.
