SEC installation language

I've windows 2003 english and italian regional settings.

I would like to setup SEC in english, but I cannot choose language during setup and setup automatically choose italian.

How can I install SEC in english?

How can I change SEC language when it's already installed?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hello calavera,

all languages are installed. SEC (and also the SAV GUI) selects the UI language according to the Regional and Language Options (if it's one of the available languages) in effect for the logged on user when it is started. There's also a currrent thread about .

  • Thank Christian

If all languages are installed how can I set one language regardless of regional settings?

Is there a way to force a specific language?

  • There is no option or setting available to force a specific language for all invocations. The same is true for the SAV GUI. Worse (in my opinion), the language of certain logs (e.g. SAV.txt) is set at install time based on (I think) SYSTEM's settings in effect and can't be modified afterwards.

Looks like there is not enough interest in this feature - basically  this was the answer when I've raised this some time ago. If you want it changed submit a feature request (and/or try to muster some supporters in this forum).

  • Hi,

You could always try switching the resource files.  In the SEC install directory there are RS<lan>.dll files.

    E.g.

    RsDeu.dll, RSEng.dll, RsEsp.dll, etc..

If you have SEC in English and want it in Italian for example, you could:

    1. Close SEC.

    2. Rename RSEng.dll to RSEng.dll.old

    3. Copy RsIta.dll to RSEng.dll

    4. Launch SEC.

You can always revert RSEng.dll.old to RSEng.dll when done.

A bit of a hack but it could get you what you're after.

    Thanks,

    Jak
