I am experiencing this problem where Windows 7 machines (32 or 64bit) running Sophos experience 100% CPU usage and a huge delay when establishing any sort of SQL based connection. It seems that Sophos is scanning something in the SYSWOW64 directory on initial connection, so much so that the application making the SQL connection appears to crash while waiting for data. Excluding the entire SYSWOW64 directory makes the problem go away but obviously I don't want to implement that due to the security risks involved. I was unable to determine exactly what files were being delayed looking thru verbose logs or even process explorer. Is anyone else having this issue? I have been able to replicate it on just about anything running windows 7 so I would assume other people would experience it.
