Estrace64.txt

Hi,

We have a file sitting on the c: drive of our server which keeps growing exponentially. This file is called estrace54.txt, and I am unalbe to open this in any text editor. Could someone please advise if this is related to Sophos, and if so is it safe to delete this file or any way of limiting the size.

Thanks in advance

  • Hi,

This file is created as a result of enabling trace logging of the Sophos Management Service.  It is not expected that this should be left enabled.

    I would suggest:

    1. Check no one else is tracing the service. :)

    2. If not, rename the rgistry key:

    HKLM\software\Sophos\Trace

    to:

    HKLM\software\Sophos\TraceOff

    (adjust for 64-bit machines)

    3. Restart the Sophos Management Service and close down Enterprise Console.

    4. Shift-Delete the file.

    Thanks,

    Jak
