Hi,
I have Sophos anti-virus installed on a Windows 7 32-bit machine (Celeron 900@2.2GHz with 2GB RAM) and have noticed an almost consistent freeze of an application when the Auto Update Service is started (ALsvc.exe). The version of the Sophos Endpoint Security Control is 9.
The freezing occurs almost consistently in 10 minute intervals – the interval at which the auto update service checks for updates (I cross checked this with the Windows event log). The freezing I have logged from my application is between 0.5 and 3 seconds (I ran a simple program which continuously logs every 100ms and noted any log entries which took longer than half a second).
The freezing also occurs if the machine is not connected to the network. If the ALsvc.exe service is stopped, I don’’’’t experience the freezing.
Is there any reason for this occurring? This is quite urgent for us to address, since it seems like the ALsvc.exe is freezing processes on the machine whilst it is performing an update – which has implications for time dependant processes.
