Update Manager Not Appearing

I'm a bit of a newbie, and trying to install a 2nd update manager for the first time.

I cannot get the additional manager to show up in the Enterprise Console.

I went through all the config files and registry and confirmed that the 2nd update manager is pointing to the correct IP address where the Enterprise Console is installed. The 2nd update manager can ping the Sophos' sites correctly as well as the IP of the Enterprise Console.

The logs (LogViewer.exe) are error free on the 2nd manager, and nothing is appearing in the Event Viewer.

Back on the Enterprise Console, the Updating Hierarchy report only has the machine with the Enterprise Console as being an update manager.

I'm clueless as to what is going on and what to try next. Any suggestions?

  • Hello meschj,

you did install from SUMInstallSet on the management server, didn't you?

The secondary SUM "talks" to SEC through RMS and if it doesn't "appear" the problem is perhaps there. confirmed that the 2nd update manager is pointing to the correct IP address - where did you look?

The logs to check are in the Logs subfolders of  Sophos\Remote Management System\ (depending on the OS version under All Users\Application Data\ or \ProgramData\).

BTW: what happened to your post?
