SSPService.exe Heavy resource usage

Windows 10 and Windows 11 are being affected with heavy CPU Usage causing massive delay in nodejs development.

All is related to the Endpoint Protection: Threat Protection policy.

When disabling most of its protection features the system operates in a better standard mode but still affecting time.

After searching for similar cases no solution has been found.

Just to provide a better description: the Policy Exclusion for specific folders does not seem to affect the resource usage nor the performance.

Please help us to solve this issue.

Best Regards,

Giulio

  • Thank you for reaching community forum. Before we begin, I would like to ask what those machines' role was. What applications running on the system, and are you observing any specific application being launch when you observed the high CPU utilization?
Many aspects may cause a high resource consumption on the system with security software installed, for example, incorrect exclusion, application bugs, and malware. Have you also tried applying hotfix on one of the problematic systems?

  • Hi,

the systems are dedicated to development activities. Particularly developers using Android Studio and Nodejs experience excessive delay in terms of time to complete each build and as already mentioned elevated CPU Usage.

All are Windows based systems (10, 11) in several releases, so it does not seem to be related to a specific system update.

    Best Regards,

    Giulio
