And this service does not exist:

I cannot start this service Sophos System Protection Service manually.

  • Hello Oliver,

Thank you for reaching us, Can you disable tamper protection on the said machine, and once done open elevated access on command prompt then type "SC Delete Sophos System Protection Service" then hit enter. Once completed, reboot the system and initiate a manual update and check if it’ll still fail.

  • I disabled tamper protection on said computer, then opened elevated access at command prompt, typed

"SC Delete Sophos System Protection Service" and then hit enter.
Then I get an error message:

C:\Users\Administrator>"SC Delete Sophos System Protection Service"
    [SC] OpenService FAILED 1060:
The specified service does not exist as an installed service.

After restart and manual update, it still fails.
