Sophos Enterprise Console 4.0 and Version 9 Client - Windows 7

Hi,

We currently have a server running Sophos Enterprise Console 3.1 that all our clients are updated from (version 7 client).

I have installed a new management server with Sophos Enterprise Console 4.0 and plan to use it to deploy version 9 to the clients.

My question is this, I just tried to deploy this to my Windows 7 Machine and got the following error :

The installation did not start.  The computer may have been shut down, renamed or disconnected, or a required service may not be running.  It may be running Windows XP Home or Windows Vista.

From what I understood there shouldn't be such issues with version 9 and Windows 7.

Can someone please help me

Thanks

  • Hello essexboy80,

did you search for deploy windows 7 in the board? That's the small price to pay for not joining earlier :smileywink:

  • Hi,

Yes I have and I have seen the reference to Endpoint Security and Control 9 Advanced Startup Guide at section 11.1.3.

But is this still the case now since V9 and EC 4.0?

Seems like a lot of hard work to get AV installed onto the machines remotely.

  • Hello Paul,

please take also a look at this discussion in the Small Business forum.

In an AD environment all required settings can be made using GPOs. Win 7 default settings differ from XP in many areas and if you want to manage your computers remotely (use the event viewer or manage users/groups or access shares on the remote computer) you'll have to change them (for example File and Printer Sharing for Microsoft Networks is not enabled by default - there's nothing you - or Sophos - can do about that from a remote computer unless of course you have AD).
