I just spent 15 minutes by telephone, taking over a customer's PC, disabling the On Access Scanner (SAV won't let me upload the file with the On Access Scanner on), uploading a detected threat through the "Send us a sample" web form (don't forget to enable the On Access Scanner afterwards!!!) and I'm thinking:
Wouldn't it be nice to right click a threat in the Quarantaine Manager and be able to select "Send a sample to Sophos" instead? I browsed SophosTalk prior to creating a New Message and the only post that kind of suggest this, dates back to November 2009 by QC.
(hey, I'm inserting HTML code here. Would SophosTalk be able to host dangerous links, or would there be an automatic search & destroy to prevent that?)
Seriously: I've had this idea for a long, long time and today I saw the link to SophosTalk because of the confirmation message I received after submitting the sample (did I mention I re-enabled the On Access Scanner?) to Sophos, so I thought: let's see what they have to say about this. It would certainly make doing the right thing a lot easier!
